  23. About a year ago I had to hook up an ancient NCR Tower 600 via a
  24. dedicated line to another Unix system. I expected to be able to run
  25. about 19k2 over this line. To my surprise throughput never came above
  26. 7000 bps, although I used the "high performance" serial i/o of the NCR
  27. box and this was the only serial i/o on the system.
